Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born on December 25, 1876, in Karachi, Sindh, to a Gujarati Muslim family. He was a brilliant student and went on to study law in London, where he became a barrister. Jinnah's entry into politics was marked by his involvement with the Indian National Congress, but he soon became disillusioned with the party's Hindu-centric policies. In 1940, he founded the All-India Muslim League, which would become the driving force behind the creation of a separate homeland for Muslims.
