Nanjupuram follows Chella, a timid young man from a small village who works as a shepherd and lives with his widowed mother. The village is terrorized by a series of snakebite deaths and a superstition that the nearby forest shrine—Nanjupuram, dedicated to a serpent deity—must be placated. Chella is in love with Pulli, a strong-willed girl from the same village. Their romance is sweet but constrained by village norms and Pulli’s protective family.
