By analyzing three key eras—the New Order’s state-sanctioned television (sinetron), the post-Reformasi rise of local cinema, and the contemporary dominance of user-generated content—this paper demonstrates how popular videos both reflect and shape the anxieties and aspirations of contemporary Indonesia.
