Most short films run 15–40 minutes. 72 minutes is an unusual, almost rebellious runtime—too long for a traditional short, too short for a feature. Nair defends the choice: "72 minutes is the length of a human night’s last dream cycle. It’s the time it takes for grief to turn into resolve. I wanted the audience to sit through that transformation without intermission."
