The original Srv Bangla was not built for Unicode output by default. It produced text in Munir Optima or Probhat encoding, which would appear as gibberish on a modern website unless converted. Recognizing this shift, Subrata Roy and later contributors released and Srv Bangla Software with Unicode support —versions that could output directly in Unicode while retaining the familiar Munir Optima key mappings. However, by this time, Avro had already captured the new user base, and built-in Windows Bengali keyboard (Probhat layout) was available for free.
