The original documentary was shot in high-definition (mastered in 1080p with a 5.1 surround mix). Gibney’s cinematographer, Maryse Alberti, uses a cool, blue-gray palette to evoke the sterile minimalism of Apple’s design language. A low-quality rip destroys the intentional texture: the glint of glass on a Shanghai assembly line, the desaturated grief of a mourner in Palo Alto.
