The plot is intentionally derivative: Prince Fabious (Franco) is the dashing hero, while his brother, Prince Thadeous (McBride), is a lazy, cowardly stoner. When Fabious’s bride is kidnapped by an evil wizard, the brothers embark on a quest to rescue her.
Upon release, Your Highness bombed. Budget: $50 million. Box office: $28 million. Critics called it "aggressively stupid." Yet, like The Big Lebowski or Pineapple Express , it found life on home video.
When the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux) kidnaps Fabious’s fiancée, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), the brothers set out on a quest to rescue her. Along the way, they are joined by the warrior princess Isabel (Natalie Portman). The film subverts typical fantasy quest arcs, focusing on the petty squabbles between the brothers rather than the grandeur of the mission.
The kingdom of Mourne fell into chaos when the evil sorcerer kidnapped Fabious’s bride-to-be, Belladonna. The King, fed up with Thadeous’s antics, gave him an ultimatum: help your brother rescue his queen, or be banished forever.
