If this router is your primary gateway to the world in 2024 and beyond, the firmware update is a bandage on a broken bone. The security protocols (WPA2) are aging; the processor cannot handle the encryption overhead of modern VPNs or high-throughput streaming. Updating it may fix bugs, but it will not fix time.
: Check the sticker on the bottom of your router. It must say H/W Ver: V2 . Do not use firmware for Rev C, T, or U1/U2 on a V2 device.
The router will restart automatically. The power LED will blink and then become solid.
