The Shell Extension solves this by enabling "thumbnail previews." Once installed, Windows Explorer can read the internal data of Corel image files and display a visual preview of the graphic content directly within the folder. This allows users to locate specific designs without the time-consuming process of opening each file individually in the main Corel application.

Right-click any CDR file → Properties → “Opens with:” → Change to CorelDRAW. The shell extension piggybacks on the primary association.

Navigate to the folder in your CorelDRAW distribution folder.

This is the safest method to ensure you get a clean, virus-free installer.

If you have the installation files (DVD or downloaded ISO), you can often find the standalone installer within the folders:
