KMS is intended for on-premises volume licensing for Office (and Windows) and requires a KMS host that clients contact to obtain activation. Office 365 (now commonly called Microsoft 365) subscriptions usually use cloud-based activation tied to user accounts and tenant subscription state; mixing Office 365/Microsoft 365 subscription products with KMS is limited and generally not recommended.
